Easter Devotionals for Families

Author Marty Machowski just released a new Easter devotional for families, and we’re pleased to gift them to the families of New Hope at the end of March. This is an “upside-down” book; families will start reading The Darkest Night on Palm Sunday and continue reading one story a day until Easter. On Easter Sunday, you’ll flip the book over and begin reading The Brightest Day, continuing on for 7 more days. There are 14 stories in all, focusing on the events of Passion week, Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, and on through Pentecost. Look for your copy on march 27th!

Not Consumed

I first heard about this website while listening to a Ginger Hubbard podcast. This homeschooling mom has created a series of Bible studies for children on topics such as loving their siblings, honoring God with their words, and the importance of obedience (plus many more!) She also has sermon notebooks for 2 age groups, devotional journals, Scripture memory and prayer cards, as well as homeschool planners, reading journals, and student planners. You can look for the sermon notebooks to appear in the sanctuary within a week or two (in addition to the Truth78 version we already offer), but head on over to their website and poke around – it’s worth a look!

How to Watch a Movie

N. D. Wilson, Stories are Soul Food, February 21, 2022

In this episode, N. D. Wilson discusses how he teaches his children to be intentional, thoughtful and critical consumers of the movies they watch, not indiscriminate Hoover vacuums. There’s plenty of food for thought here as we endeavor to help our children navigate this aspect of our culture.
