Reason for the World 0

Just want to share the video and lyrics to the song “Reason for the World” that I sung last Sunday. Thank you for all the kind words, love, and prayers that you have lifted on our behalf.

Reason for the World by Matthew West

There are no words in times like these
When tears don’t hide the tragedies
And all you want is a reason for the world

No comfort in the greeting card
Cause God is good, But life’s still hard
and your heart just wants a reason for the world

Maybe the reason for the pain
Is so we would pray for strength
And maybe the reason for the strength
Is so that we would not lose hope
And maybe the reason for all hope
Is so that we could face the world
And the reason for the world
Is to make us long for home

For God so loved your broken heart
He sent his son to where you are
and he died
To give a reason for the world

So lift your sorrows to the one
Whose plan for you has just begun
And rests here in the hands that hold the world

Maybe the reason for the pain
Is so we would pray for strength
And maybe the reason for the strength
Is so that we would not lose hope
And maybe the reason for all hope
Is so that we could face the world
And the reason for the world
Is to make us long for home

Well I know your past the point of broken
Surrounded by your fear
I know your feet are tired and weary
from the road that you walked down here
But just keep your eyes on heaven
and know that you are not alone
remember the reason for the world

No ear has heard, No eye has seen
Not even in your wildest dreams
A beauty that awaits beyond this world
When you look into the eyes of grace
and hear the voice of mercy say
Child, welcome to the reason for the world

Farid’s Top Ten Christian songs and albums of 2010 0

And now something fun and personal to kick off the year: my very own top 10 list of Christian songs and albums of the year! ( Well at least something fun for me – I always want to do a top 10! )

DISCLAIMER: I listen to a LOT of Christian music throughout the year so I try to be somewhat diverse, but as with every top 10 list, ultimately this is still a personal list. Music is a very powerful avenue that can be used to comfort, heal, uplift, and many times lead us to worship. I find it incredible how our own personal experiences very much shapes the kind of music we are listening to, and how those music can either further lead us into despair and anger, or uplift and comfort us. This list is exactly that – how my experiences this past year shaped the music I was listening to.

Boiling down the hundreds of songs you listened throughout the year to 10 is a whole lot more difficult then I ever thought, by the way!

Click on each song for more information / description about why I picked the song!

10. Glorious (album) – Paul Baloche

9. God Gave me You – Dave Barnes

8. Love is on the move (album) – Leeland

7. The Shelter (album) – Jars of Clay

6. You and Your Things – Joel Auge

5. Happy Day (album) – Tim Hughes

4. How He Loves – Jared Anderson

3. You Bled – Rend Collective

2. The Story of Your Life (album) – Matthew West

1. Beauty will Rise (album) – Steven Curtis Chapman

At last! After months of hiatus the Sunday set returned! What a whirlwind 2010 has been for me. Everything I knew about God was challenged and reaffirmed, and my life was turned upside down through the circumstances that came. Through it all God is faithful, God is good, and God is to be praised. This week I want to start our year recognizing of the fact that we serve an amazing God.

Sunday Set 10/10 0

Hello everyone, thanks for checking out our Sunday set.

This week we start with Arise, one of the songs we often sing to start our service. The song is catchy and the lyrics are easy, but in the middle of all this is a simple but powerful declaration of“God, be magnified. Be lifted high. Be enthroned. We worship you.”

The second song, Be Praised, follows the same theme. Creation declares the glory of God and we are singing along in adoration and worship.

The worship set starts with Lead me to the Cross, where we sing a prayer for the Lord to remind us of the price of our redemption, that Cross where His blood was spilled for our sins. This is followed with How Great is the Love, a song we learned a few weeks ago that speaks “Wow. What a savior, what a love. what a sacrifice. Thank you Lord for the way that you Love us. This amazement leads us to sing the last song, A Greater Song, where we stand in awe of His greatness and sing “Hallelujah, we want to lift YOU higher!

See everyone on sunday!

Worship Set 9/26 0

This week’s set continue to focus on the amazing love of God that has been poured out for us, and our response to that love. It’s been something that’s heavy and overwhelming on my minds these past few weeks – that HE – the Son of God – came for ME. Amazing.

The one song I want to highlight is a new song from a relatively unknown Irish band – Rend Collective Experiment tittled You Bled. I stumbled upon these guys when I recovered Yusnan’s MP3 Player and I was just blown away by their music. I’m not sure if the song was ever intended for congregational singing but I believe it would work great. It combines elements from some old hymns beautifully, and the depth of the lyrics are just incredible. Even the imagery projected in the video clip is brilliant. I find myself singing it over and over this week, and can’t wait to teach everyone on Sunday!
